Destin on the weekend

Destin does take your breath away.........just the colors of the water and the white sandy beaches are a sight but add a weekend full of happy party folks and the place simply shines. Anchored on an inlet close to downtown was like being on a boardwalk. We sat on our "back porch" with glass of wine in hand and watched the boats coming and going. A beautiful sunset completed this picture.
We were off to Panama City the next day. The ride was easy and the weather again for wonderful. The wind has been blowing for some days now which means "No misquitoes!!!" or flies. The following day I had to have my "Wally World" fix while James stayed and washed the boat. I rode the public tram and I enjoyed going through the old part of the city.....the cottages were refreshing after so many mini mansions we've passed. The city Marina was very nice....great facilities.
Off to Apalachicola on Tuesday and to date this has been my favorite traveling day. We crossed "East Bay" which was smooth and quite shallow.........with Dolphins playing all the way across. Four of them ran with us for 3 or 4 minutes....no pictures because were enthralled just watching them on the side of the boat. They would turn on their sides and look at us. We then traveled on a beautiful long river and just before we came into the Marina we saw several nests of Osprey on the channel markers. After several weeks of "alligator logs" and "turtle rocks" this day was thrilling.
Now we are here until at least Saturday waiting for the "weather opportunity" to be good for crossing the Gulf to Tarpon. We're off to town today....last night we ate at the restaurant here at Scipio Marina. They are famous for their oysters and James confirms that fact.
