A Simple Act Of Kindess........

Ottawa Illinois is a wonderful city, full of history; and none more interesting than this Boy Scout Memorial on the gravesite of W.D. Boyce. Mr. Boyce was a resident of Ottawa and millionaire publisher of three weekly newspapers: The Chicago Ledger, Saturday Blade and Chicago World.
While on a trip to London England; one foggy evening, he asked a young boy if he could assist him in finding his destination. The boy said he would be pleased to help. Upon reaching his destination, Mr. Boyce attempted to tip him and the boy said "No thank you Sir, I'm a boyscout and it is our duty to be helpful".
Mr. Boyce was so impressed with the boy's simple act of kindness, that upon his return to Ottawa, he founded the Boy Scouts of America....Feb. 8, 1910. Each year, thousands of scouts have made pilgrimages to the Boyce gravesite to pay their respects to the man who brought Scouting to America.
