Rain, Rain, Go Away

I took only 2 pictures while I was in Savannah because it rained the entire time (except for 2 hours one day). This is a picture of leaving Savannah, the other is of the Waving Girl (below). But don't think we let the rain stop us. In the mornings it was misty and cloudy so that's when we did our sight-seeing. We did two tours on the trolley...one for the full circle of the historic city and then the on and off one to stop at all the places we wanted to visit.

Savannah was so lush and beautiful...the squares are what this city is famous for and one was more beautiful than the next. My friend Nancy Thomas and I loved every moment of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" Book, CD and Movie....so I asked James to take me on the home tour of the Mercer-Williams home and it was wonderful. They had some great photographs of Jim Williams (he was quite handsome) and the crew from the movie. The tour guide sure let us know how much Savannah loved him and how this town stood by him through all his trials. He restored over 60 homes in Savannah. We also saw the Johnny Mercer home. I can't believe he wrote over a thousand songs and 400 of them were in mostly hit movies.

The one restaurant we went to that I really enjoyed, although they were all good, was "Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House". She must have served 10 to 12 different vegetables and every one of them looked delicious. I miss Southern cooking....

I hated to leave Savannah, it was everything I had hoped it would be....I do hope to return again some day.
