A Mill Pond

On our return from Nashville, after spending the night in Clarksville Tenn. (I have a nephew who lives there) and staying at Barkley State Park, we came across Barkley Lake this morning and it was as smooth as a mill pond. We then crossed over to the Kentucky and Tennessee rivers by way of the Land Between The Lakes. We spent one night at Kentucky Dam Marina. Then it was down the Kentucky river. For many years this river was known for mussel harvesting. In the early 1900, the mussels were harvested and sent to Japan. There, the mussels were used for seeding oysters for pearl production. Once on the Tennessee, we were treated to five miles of one of Tennessee's wildlife refuge....52,000 acres of water, woodland and farmland. It is home to 200,000 ducks and 25,000 Canada geese....and 7 bald eagles.
